A beautifully designed backgammon set and display piece, featuring a centerpiece of thick, tiger-striped black and brown ebony wood. An ebony veneer, covered in a thick clear lacquer, catches and scatters light in long veins of golden brown wood along its surface, causing the set to shimmer when the observer or the light moves, This ebony veneer makes up the majority of the outside of the set, and covers all of the playing surface besides the maple and ebonized wood points inside. Features delicately inlaid zig-zagging slivers of poplar wood decoration on the top and bottom lid, designed to catch the light and sparkle when the set is not in use.

The set is 1/4 inch thick at its thinnest and almost an inch at its thickest, and weighs just over 8 pounds. Inlaid magnets hold the set closed while not playing, and a lock with decorative metal key and tassel will make sure the interior stays closed & protected during travel.

 

A backgammon play set designed for ease of play. Thick lacquer protects the set body from damage, and provides a low-friction playing surface for sliding chips across. Ebonized wood and maple points are inlaid into the playing surface and are based with rounded chip bays, carved just shallow enough to slide chips in and out with ease. 1.2 gram boxwood checkers mean that pieces won't go flying when an errant die or jostle bumps them. Set comes with 30 checkers, two plastic dice cups, four dice, a doubling cube and a red tassled key.
