Fox Knives "Voyager" folding knife in Damascus steel and silver birch

 

The smooth opening Fox Knives "Voyager" in pattern welded Japanese ATS-34 and Swedish PMC 27 stainless steels, forged in 364 layers.

 

 

Both ATS-34 and PMC 27 are harder steels at around 60-61 HRC, but the Swedish PMC 27 is a sharp razor steel and the ATS-34 is a softer, but easier to sharpen steel.

 

 

The biggest draw of this knife is the tight and delicate patterns along the blade, which trade attention with the wood grain in the silver birch scales. Direct light enters the silver birch and hits the grain, making it sparkle, which contrasts the sheen and acid-etched pattern on the blade.

 

 

The Voyager comes with a ball-bearing liner lock, which makes for a very smooth opening motion, and helps keep the blade locked while its closed. The Voyager also comes with a reversible thumb stud, a finger grip depression, and Damascus jimping on the back of the blade. While the Voyager is easily opened with one hand, it has a tendency to stay closed due to the built-in ball bearing mechanism, so it will take some pressure to flick open but won't need a lock to stay closed in a pocket or bag.
